It is known since 1764 when it was mentioned in documents of the Podils'ka diocese.

The soviet emblem

 

 

It was confirmed at July, 7th, 1989 by the decision of village council. In an azure field is the reversed gules point. The point is charged by argent gear, the or flame accompanied by the or ear and oak leaf. In the base is an or cossack sabre. The argent chief is charged by the sable city name. The sabre designates, that the city has arisen on a place old Cossack settlement which were created for the defence of the lands against attacks of nomads. The oak leaf symbolizes occurrence of settlement in an environment of oak woods and connection with the wood industry. Wheaten ear is a symbol of a life, well-being, generosity of the ground. Gear is a symbol of the industry. A gules triangle with a flame is a symbol of courage of Ukrainian people. The author is G.Chopenko.
