Vylkovo

It was founded in the XVIII century by Zaporozhian Cossacks who came to the region after Zaporozhian Sich had been destroyed. Since 1812 it was part of Russia. In 1918 - 1940 the town had been under the Romanian jurisdiction, since 1940 it was part of Ukraine.

The emblem of the Romanian period

The emblem of the Romanian period was confirmed in 1932. In an azure field there was an azure rafter with three or fishes under it. In chief and on the sides there were two vert rush stalks. The shield is crowned with an argent mauerkrone with three embatlements.

The soviet emblem

It was confirmed at November, 12th, 1987 by the decision N209 of city council executive committee. In the or shield is the sable nose of a boat dissecting azure waves and accompanied on the right by the five argent fishes and at the left by vert trees on island. Above a nose is the or cossack sabre and a crable. In the top of a shield is the argent city name. The arms symbolizes island arrangement of city and fishing, and also the cossack past. The author is V.Vershynin.
