Kremenchuk

It is situated on the both banks of the Dnipro.

It was founded in the XVI century for defense of the left-bank of Pridneprovsky territory.

Since 1654 it was a squadron town of Chygyryn regiment.

The emblem of the Russian period

 

 

The emblem of the Russian period was confirmed on the 24th of 1798. It illustrated the geographical position of the town - in an azure field there was an argent belt denoting the Dnipro.

B.Kene project

 

 

At 06.07.1866 B.Kene worked out a project of a new emblem of the town. In an azure field there is a silver fess. In the canton there was an emblem of Poltavs'ka province.The shield is crown with an argent mauerkrone with three towers and frame with two or ears, which are twine with the ribbon of the Order of St.Alexander.

The soviet emblem

 

 

It was confirmed at June, 30, 1971 by the decision N344 of city council executive committee. In a pentagonal gules shield is azure escutcheon, topped by half gear, in which are three раfracted wavy fillet fesses. In the half gear are or sickle and hammer. Fesses designate the Dnipro river which blocks the bridge in the topographical image. The arms has narrow argent border. The author is L.Sydorenko.

The modern emblem

 

 

The modern coat of arms was approved in September 21 1995. In the azure field there is a silver beam. The author is A.Grechylo.

The gonfalon

 

 

In September 21 1995 the session of the town council approved the gonfalon: a rectangular canvas with a ratio of the sides: 1:1, consisting of three horizontal stripes - dark blue, white and dark blue (ratio: 2:1:2).
