Borzna

It was known since the end of the XV century as a farmstead Selishche. In the middle of the XVI century it got the name of Borzna from the name of the river it was situated on.

In 30s of the XVII century it was given the Magdeburg Right.

Since 1654 Borzna was a squadron town of Nizhyn regiment.

The emblem of the Russian period

 

 

The emblem of the Russian period was confirmed on the 4th of June 1782. In a gules field there was an or quadrangular cross over an argent horned moon.

B.Kene project

 

 

At 13.04.1865 B.Kene worked out a project of a new emblem of the town. In an gules field the or cross with broad ends. Under it the or crescent with its points down. In the canton there was an emblem of Chernihivs'ka province. The shield is crown with an argent mauerkrone with three towers and frame with two or ears, which are twine with the ribbon of the Order of St.Alexander.

The soviet emblem

 

 

It was confirmed at 1975. The shield per pale by gules and azure. In the first part is or sheave in pale, in the second part is argent radio wave. In the centre is or ear, accompanied in base by sable metal profile. The sable chief is charged by sable city name.
